Comments
Comments: We donned spikes only to navigate the snow pack at the top. Several parties ahead of us did not, however it seemed quite treacherous without them, and one of my sons is 15 weeks post fibula break so I didn’t want to inspire more orthopedic surgeon visits. Trail was surprisingly intact after the past few days of rain, although some ice on ledges after the 0.8 mile stone fence, after the gunstock Mountain Trail takes a sharp left, Requires care. The from the panorama pub’s deck is still fabulous although a few trees are encroaching on it. And such lovely blazing sun from the picnic table looking out beyond Belknap and Piper.

Always a lovely day in these woods. Thinking about how accessible these trails are makes me sad to learn of possible intrusion by ski area expansion. I hope the parties involved can balance economic interest with the need for wild spaces and places like this that do more than restore the soul. They are the soul.
