Comments
Comments: The theme today was ice! Small to large patches on 19-Mile Brook, especially the second half to the Wildcat Ridge Trail junction. Mostly manageable ice (with microspikes) up Wildcat A until about 200 yards from the summit when steep trail features just had frozen cascades. I saw one other hiker on the summit of Wildcat A. He came from the start of the Wildcat Ridge Trail at Pinkham Notch. He said I was the only person he saw all day up to that point. Wildcat Ridge from A to D was a veritable luge course. Took a long time to safely navigate the ice chutes. Had originally planned on a there and back to 19-Mile Brook, but decided to take Polecat down and hoof the 3 miles north on Route 16 back to the trailhead. So much safer. I saw four others at the top of D who made the same choice.

I only had micros today, but I'm bringing the crampons from here on out. I would have worn crampons the entire distance from A to D without having to switch back to micros. I'll post pictures of trail conditions on Instagram: @danmorris731
