 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking in the pull-off lots on Coppermine Rd off Rt 116 had plenty of room today. There is a sign indicating not to go further down the road. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
None were a huge issue. The crossing just above the shelter was a little dicey with rocks covered in ice, but we managed to find a way across. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There are about 4 or so significant blowdowns. The worst blowdown is about 100 yards past the official trailhead sign after walking up the roads. This blowdown is completely obscuring the trail and is very large with many branches. The other blowdowns weren’t as bad. Some you could step over or duck under. Others had herd paths going around. Trail could also use some fresh blazes. Big thanks to whoever had done some recent work removing other blowdowns. |

A great day out! We opted for a shorter, below treeline hike after yesterday’s weather and forecasted winds. Trail was almost snow and ice free. Only snow we saw was above the shelter. Within about a quarter mile from the bridge, ice started appearing under fallen leaves, with more uncovered ice the closer we got to the bridge. We opted for spikes above the shelter to assist us with the ice covered rocks on the water crossing (though we thought we should have put them on sooner) and kept them on for a little bit below the bridge on the return.
The falls today we’re stunning with flowing water and ice. Absolutely beautiful! |
