 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Two blowdowns; both appear very new (it was crazy windy last night!!). One is within 0.5m of the trailhead and is about 4†diameter tree across the trail at waist height. Due to branches, hard to go under and too high to go over so went around. Then there is an 8†diameter tree across the trail approx 0.4 miles from the summit. We were definitely the first ones over it as it moved down about a foot when we went over it!! |

Saw one; he/she looked very happy!! |

Thank you to the USFS for such a beautiful update to the fire tower. New stairs and a beautiful new floor. Despite the sign you can see microspike holes in the new stairs (insert sad face); hopefully future people will read the sign and remove their spikes before climbing. The table (and the hiker log) were damp and there was water on the floor in that corner of the fire tower - the wind was fierce last night (and while we were hiking!) and there was a lot of rain and sleet yesterday. There is no visible hole in the roof and all windows are intact.
We saw approximately a dozen hikers headed up as we were headed down. Two were planning to spend the night in the fire tower. |
