| Comments: |
There was 1-4" of snow atop ice consistently most of the way to the bottom of Brutus. Quickly became 6-8" and then 1' on the summit. The extremely steep part of Brutus was pretty icy and somewhat sketchy with good microspikes, crampons will be mandatory after the melt today refreezes with an ice axe recommended. River crossings were tricky rockhops and will likely become nastly winter wades after today so bring the black garbage bags as lightweight waders, have multiple pairs of socks, and have a packliner for dripping trees. Lincoln woods will likely become a skating rink again, there was a top layer of mash potatoes which will turn into slush and refreeze into an icesheet. Be safe out there and make good choices for the gear, experience, and skills that you bring |
