| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The lot at Willey House was not plowed, but the snow wasn’t deep. Easy to get in and out. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Black, Ice - Blue, Wet/Slippery Rock, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Standing/Running Water on Trail |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Not frozen. But not deep. Waterproof boots for the win. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The ladders have some steps missing, but are still usable. However, the giant nails used to assemble the staircases are still there, sticking up. Don’t fall or you may get impaled. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
My dogs had trouble with the ladder section. A challenge we overcame (with much lifting and pushing, praise and encouragement, and good harnesses), but we will not be repeating that trail together. There was some open water for drinking along Kedron Flume and Ethan Pond trails. |

Kedron Flume Tr, Ethan Pond Tr, Willey Range Tr, Westside Tr
Didn’t get far without spikes today. No need for snowshoes, the 4-6†of snow was light and fluffy as can be. Lots of ice under the snow. Trails need more snow.
Made a loop at the bottom because I didn’t feel like going back down Kedron Flume, so took Ethan Pond to it’s trailhead, then a short road walk (closed road, covered in ice and snow, spikes stayed on), then took Westside trail back up to Kedron and my car. Westside is heavily blazed, which is good because there’s no footpath visible, and no tracks to follow. |
