 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked roughly 4mi into the road where there's a fork and the right branch of the road goes to the east of Dummer Ponds. The road was hard-packed snow/ice/dirt and isn't cement but was in excellent shape. I felt very comfortable on it with just FWD and even felt safe to go 30+mph a good portion of the time. The road is wide and mostly flat which helps. The roads which branched off Dummer Ponds Road were not as well travelled and looked like they could be iffy for a FWD vehicle. I also checked out Neville Brooke Route a bit further north on 16 for access to Cow Mtn and it was VERY icy. I quickly turned around. I wouldnt recommend for FWD vehicles without chains. |

Day 34, Peak 33. 2nd hike of the day after Round Mtn in Milan. Happy to have just enough time to squeeze in another hike as it was a beautiful, sunny day :)
From my parking spot by the fork in the road, I crossed the road and entered the woods, soon coming to an open (powerline??) cut. I walked through the cut stuff, and entered a nice hardwood forest and headed just north of west at easy-moderate grades. At 1800ft, I began to curve more northward until I hit the summit ridge south of the summit at about 1900ft and walked N/NW to the summit. I signed in and returned in my tracks. About 1.6mi RT with 650ft of gain. I was rushing to get this one done and it took just under 1hr. Easy hike.
331 more days and 332 more peaks to go... |
