Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: These trails are well-blazed and signed. One small blowdown that I recall. There are wooden structures (bog bridges, foot bridges) along the way, but more would be beneficial with all of the wet areas. I did see a few spots flagged for trail work so perhaps more projects are in the works.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw one happy husky out for a walk with its humans.

Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A pair of safety glasses on a tree branch; I left them at the trailhead kiosk.

Comments
Comments: Thought this route would be more of a footpath hike, but it's completely on old logging roads and a snowmobile trail. As such, there was a lot of mud, muck, and water on the trail with a few small flooded sections. This will be a better walk in summer when everything is dry or in the dead of winter with deep snow. Warming temps on the return trip increased the soggyishness level. Some areas of ice but nothing crazy. There was one sloping ledge which was covered in black ice that I whacked around. Snow depths were minimal with lots of bare ground.

I walked from Mica Mine Rd. to the NHDOT shed on 2nd NH Turnpike and back, with a short side trip along the outlook loop. The view from Sam's Overlook (southern VT hills, Mt. Ascutney) is OK, but trees are growing up and it's likely more obscured in summer. Marshall Pond is a nice spot and a very short walk from the trailhead.
