Comments
Comments: We did not encounter any other hikers on the trail. Used microspikes from start to finish. There were a few icy patches near the summit but we took it slow and did not have a problem. The trail has 1-2in at the lower levels and 4-5in at higher elevations. The low temperatures kept the snow frozen and crunchy to talk on. Loved seeing the interesting rock formations (box canyon) on the Kelly trail but enjoyed the ease of old mast road on the return.
The trail is not well marked, the blazes are few and far between.
Make sure to catch the view off the summit.
