About eight cars in the Piper lot at 7 AM. The access road is a bit more rutted than usual. No snow or ice at the lot level, contrary to forecasts. |

| Comments: |
Piper to Nickerson to Carter Ledge to Middle Sister to Piper trails up. Piper down. Spikes needed for many icy spots starting at about 2200'. Much of the area above treeline was bare, though. Very shallow snow in some higher elevation below treeline stretches.
Chilly, but great visibility and low winds. Only saw other hikers about a half dozen times. The Patriots factor? |
