Lots of leaves until the wilderness sign, then wet, icy, snow until the Whack. Fresh snow so we followed fresh tracks lower than we remembered. Very wet spongy areas, with 1 2 foot deep area. Found the 2 glades, again just too low. Hard to follow in spots, ended up dropping down lower where it really was a whack. Made it to trail encountered everything on trail until the top. Lots of chances for dunking feet which we did many times, but our boots held up! Ankle deep in many spots, be careful Lon the ice. Very icy on Davis Path, we barebooted foolishly until the Spur. Spikes needed for the climb. Winds were higher than forecast, brutal cold but views were fantastic! Couldn’t linger too cold, we headed down. Fast to whack, no issues as we went back the same way. If you follow our trail...sorry. More snow needed for proper trail to be laid out. Beautiful cold windy day, only 5 others out. Finished my 3rd round! Thanks Kevin for a great day in the woods! |
