Comments
Comments: Trail had all conditions today. At the bottom mostly dry, then nearing Cedar Brook occasional ice/black ice/frozen mud. Cascade brook had more icy spots, I used yak trax so as not to destroy my spikes. They worked well, I did break a spring though because there are a lot of exposed rocks. Just before the loop trail junction I put on the spikes, it was rocky and probably would have been ok on yak trax, but could move quicker in the spikes. I went clockwise, definitely needed the spikes on the ascent, although again there was significant exposed rock, but also a light coating of snow that covered any ice so it was easier to have the spikes on and just avoid the rocks best I could. The travers across the ridge between the peaks was gorgeous! Light snow cover covered up the rocks just enough and made walking easier. The descent off South peak was sketchy in spots, with more ice then the north side IMO, just had to move slow. Great day out today. Only saw one other group.
