Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I didn't trust the snow-covered tree at the end of the day on Dicey's Mill Trail, so I just stepped on submerged rocks
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Step-over tree across Rollins Trail about 0.2 mile before junction with Dicey's Mill, about 8" diameter. Also, beautiful stone step work recently done at Rollins-Dicey junction, hats off to all those who did the hard work!

Comments: About 1/4 mile before the ledges, there was slippery frozen mud and ice, so I put my rock spikes on at that point, but took them off at the ledges which were mostly dry. I put the spikes back on immediately after the ledges due to black ice, ice-covered rocks and ice underneath a coating of snow. Immediately after Whiteface there are some sections of standing water with a breakable crust of ice on top, there's just no avoiding or side-stepping these sections; bring your waterproof boots and just go splashing through. The snow and ice diminished the closer I got to Dicey's Mill junction, but ascending Passaconaway, the snow and ice returned, and there was also a lot of running water on the trail. Descending Passaconaway, there was a brief snow shower, which left a slick coating on the wet leaves all the way down, so I left my spikes on till just before the Wiggin Trail junction.
