Had a great little jaunt out to Lowe's Bald Spot this morning, my first time. Fresh snowfall of half-an-inch coated the trees and trail, absolutely gorgeous. Trail is very well marked, and tons of signage. Great views of a cloudy, snowy morning in the high peaks. I'd recommend micro spikes for the steeper portion after the "0.1" sign near the view spot, lots of slippery snow and trace bits of ice on the slabby rock. Be sure to go past the first rocky outcropping for more open views north through the notch!!! A+++ morning and great casual hike. Will definitely do it again for the fall foliage next year. |
