Really nice little mountain. I was to lazy to drive North today, so we just hiked local trails. I prefer this mountain in winter conditions, as it feels more like the Whites. The summer/Fall crowds can be busy, but we just took it in stride, said hello to all and Shay let about 1000 people pet him. The summit is pretty cool, nice views too far away, a great view of the Boston skyline. They had a Raptor station set up, very interesting to see the bird counts. One hawk species had over 6000 sightings, another interesting data point, 5 Golden eagles spotted, so far. They had tallies for all the other birds as well, pretty neat stuff. |
