Comments
Comments: Fun hike for a Sunday. Started later since it seemed that the winds would decrease slightly after noon. But, we didn't have the early sunshine. Trails were quite wet, as expected, with standing and running water, wet rocks, wet leaves. Once on the exposed rocks, the presence of ice and running water made traversing a challenge. Pockets of snow and a few very small drifts up to 4" were scattered throughout the upper elevations. Spikes came out to help with traction. It was helpful that several hikers had passed on the trails before us, and left footprints in the snow showing the best route. In several locations there were large puddles of water to add to the challenge. On the other hand, the snow on the trees was a welcome sight and quite beautiful. Elevation matters, and it was almost winter at the summits. About a dozen other hikers on the trails.
