Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The two big water crossings on York Pond Trail were challenging. There is a log across the second one (coming from the parking lot), but it started to break when my buddy went across. I bushwhacked further downstream and found a better crossing, although it wasn't easy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of mud! We hiked from Starr King to York Pond. Mud was tricky after South Weeks, on the way to Middle. North weeks was wet and muddy. York Pond was painful with the amount of mud, water and fallen leaves.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: One very cute pup on the way up to Starr King.

Comments
Comments: It was a wild day for us! After we summited South Weeks from Waumbek, we got turned around and ended up almost back on Waumbek. Such a bummer. But we hung in there and headed back to South Weeks for the second time of the day. Made it through to York Pond Road just fine, even after an extra four miles and two hours of hiking. York Pond Trail is a mess, with some broken planks, tons of mud and water on trail, difficult water crossings, and leaves covering everything causing us to weeble and wabble along. We did this section in the dark and at the end of a long day, so it might be better for folks who start here.
The climbs were not bad, and we had some cool occasional views of the Presidentials. Met some nice folks on Waumbek. It was a great day to be out on the trail!
