Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Paid $10 for the privilege. Met some on the trail that did not pay? Risky. So the Cog is certainly stewards of the $, too bad they are not good stewards and clean up the debris generated by the recent installation on new rail. Granted they took down a lot of debris, but a mess remains.

Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found a nice pair of WMNF walking sticks. They came in handy as a brain fart set in early AM and my trekking poles were left back at my place. I lost the WMNF walking sticks at the hiker parking lot for the next forgetful hiker.

Comments
Comments: Bare booted to just above the crossover above Gem Pool at about El. 4000. Some nice ice forming above the crossover. Wore rock spikes from there back down to just above the mid-way stop of the Cog with all the people roaming from 3 trains. There was some hard ice, some covered with snow, below Lakes. Crawford Path to Munroe summit was some hard windswept snow ranging from a few inches to just below knee deep drifts. Another hiker and I broke trail to Munroe and back. Same windswept snow conditions from Lakes to Washington summit, along Gulfside, and next to the Cog. There were some spots where snowshoes would have been nice to save some energy but these patches were relatively short. Overall spikes were likely the best option. There were a few sets of tracks from Lakes to Washington. Gulfside had one set of tracks. Wind far less than predicted. It was a great day above tree line to get these peaks in November.
