I twice found myself scratching my head and trying to find the path on the Dry River Trail, but I was able to figure it out relatively quickly both times. Overall, I don't think this trail is as difficult to follow as the AMC Guide may suggest, even with all the leaves on the ground. There are some really nice sections of the trail, and some sections that aren't so nice.
My first time hiking the western section of the Isolation Trail. The upper half is excellent. Very under used. Easy to follow, nice forest, mellow grades, good footing. There are some washouts on the lower section, but overall the trail is easy to follow.
I only encountered 2 other hikers today. Coincidentally, both were finishing their 48 and Mt. Isolation. Congratulations to John and Jared.
Beautiful fall day.
