Nice day for a west-to-east traverse of Flat Mountain. From the Fletcher's Cascade Trail, I bushwhacked to the Sandwich Dome/Flat Mtn. col and then worked my way across the ridge to Flat Mountain’s summit, visiting all of the south-facing view ledges along the way. Blowdowns were minimal and woods were mostly open, save for some areas of dense conifers around the ledges. Views were especially nice at the western end of the ridge, where you can see Flat Mountain Pond and the hairpin corner of the old Beebe River Railroad. |
