Comments
Comments: Out and back from Bangor Rd. today, didn't want to go high or risk tricky river crossings so this one fit the bill perfectly - some wet rock once we hit the ledgy section but more than enough dry grippy rock for easy ascending. Plenty of mud in the usual places but all easily navigated. Very sporadic small icy patches started around 2900', no real issues until more significant flow ice appeared ~3800', able to slowly ascend with careful foot placement but put the rock spikes on for descent of this short section (first few tenths of a mile from the summit)- I'm sure some people could descend it no problems but we didn't want to chance it. This will likely worsen after the precip forecasted for Friday so definitely recommend rock spikes at minimum for now. I forgot how relentless this trail is especially compared to Stony Brook but it was a nice change of pace having not hiked it in several years, good views especially in the morning and a warm day for November. Crossed paths with two solo hikers and two small groups today, beautiful and pretty quiet day in the woods - thanks Ali and Maddie for a fun day.
