Only car in lot all day. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock |

| Recommended Equipment: |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
A couple of slippery brooks were rock hopped. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Large blowdown across the trail near bottom. Requires considerable detour to get around. Trail needs more blazes, especially the lower sections amongst the hardwoods. With all the leaves on the ground, you really have to pay attention to follow the trail. (the leaves were really deep in spots and concealed lots of roots and rocks) |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw no dogs or humans all day. |

Due to time constraints, this was a trip to the large cairn (with the view to Washington) on the ridge. Been quite a while since I was last on this trail...now I remember why. It is crazy steep in sections, and a number of the ledges were wet and very slick. The lower section looks like it has seen some recent maintenance with bridges and rock steps. I just think that more blazing is in order, considering that this is the AT. The lower section is not bordering a Wilderness designated area, so there is really no excuse. There was also no signage where the Saco River Trail exits to the right (when ascending) off the WCT. |
