Comments
Comments: Pretty straight forward walk beyond the gate for 2.2 miles. Normally a road walk is pretty boring but this one had some fine views and wonderful scenery along the Diamond River. Impressive rapids in the gorge along the road. At the Dartmouth cabins there are several signs and one pointing to Diamond Peaks, Alice Ledges and Linda Ledges. Follow this faintly blazed (yellow) trail with care. The foot-bed is apparent and easy to follow if you are looking for it. At the top of the first significant climb out of the valley there could be a sign at the 'y' intersection (left to Alice's Ledges, right to Diamond Peaks) With the newly fallen leaves this junction is not easily recognized. Follow the trail to another junction with the "Diamond Back Trail" which continues left into the valley, take the right continuing along the ridge to the exceptional view of Mt. Dustan, the Mahoosuc Range and Elephant Mountain in Maine. The HOL is about 20' prior to the view area and obvious.
