Comments
Comments: Sorry for the late posting! Anyway, it was a glorious day to hike the Northern Presis. Temps were a bit warmer and winds were a bit milder than forecasted. Airline Trail was its normal rough self. There was a dusting of snow on the trail from about 3,000 feet to treeline, along with some generally avoidable ice. We easily barebooted up, but would recommend light traction for descending. Airline above treeline, Gulfside to the hut and Osgood up/down Madison was mostly a dusting snow with some avoidable ice. A few people used light traction, but most people (including us) chose not to and had no problems. Valley Way was a whole different story, with intermittent ice bulges and frozen steps. Light traction was very helpful. I had not been on the Valley Way in seven years without a snow pack and that trail is much more eroded than I remember. What a shame.
