Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Lincoln Woods parking area. Lots of room, now that tourists have headed back home. Bathrooms are unlocked, but there are also porta-potties.

Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet Trail, Ice - Breakable Crust, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: There's a lot of water coming down the mountain. All the crossings were OK, in that my feet stayed dry. But only just. As I write this, the weekend should be nice and sunny, so things might be a little more tame. Expect the worst, hope for the best.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail itself was fine. There's one blow-down, easily walked around, but someone with a saw could make things better with about ten minutes time. Other than that, there's a lot of mud. Be ready for that.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Regrettably, no, because the conditions were great for a pup to go on a long walk in the woods.
Bugs
Bugs:
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Someone left their tuna sandwich container (from 7-11) hidden under a rock at the river's edge. Setting aside the wisdom of eating gas station sandwiches... the mountain didn't need the plastic container. Bad juju.

Comments
Comments: I'd hoped to bag all three summits, but wow, that was long enough as it was, just doing two. I think the swollen brook crossings, combined with all the mud and stuff, slowly built up and took its toll. That's a hard hike.

Met some lovely people, though, and saw some amazing sights, so in total, the aches and pains were overwhelmingly voted down by all the good stuff in the day.

Note there is a little ice forming here and there. I doubt spikes will be required this weekend, but certainly in the coming weeks, only a fool would hike without them. I'd stash them in my pack, expecting not to need them, but having them just in case. It's that time of year again.

Pictures and a more detailed report are on my blog, as always. Somehow, this trip was a photo bonanza, more than usual.
