Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The Ammonoosuc River was running high and strong. Crossing it at the start of Jewell Link was not possible. But cross the river on the cog rail service road bridge, take an immediate left across the tracks, and head up the embankment. There is a path through the tall grass leading into the woods. Follow the path downstream until it joins Jewell Link.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The sign post at the junction of Gulfside and Sphinx Trails has fallen down. Trails are otherwise in good condition.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Not a good route for dogs right now. Wait for more snow to cover up the rocks.

Comments
Comments: This was the last summit on my '48 Over 70' list, and it didn't go easily. There was just enough fresh powder snow to hide ankle-twisting gaps in the rocks and small patches of ice, but too little for micro-spikes to be of any use. Slow and deliberate was the order of the day. I had the mountain all to myself - didn't see another person all day.
