I parked at the end of Corbin St in Berlin. No one else there. Room for a couple cars before you might run into a problem. |

Nothing that’s not trivial or bridged. The one bridge has some holes in it so watch out for that. Presumably still quite stable though if you’ve got snowmobiled and ATVs going over it’s |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Nothing blazed. Some signs at jcts but I didn’t bother to read them. There was an “A†sticker attached to a post along side one of the roads which may have been some marking. |

Day 3, Peak 2. 362 more days and 363 more peaks to go. A delightful little pre-work hike. I wanted to walk to the start of the trail since this is so close to me but was running late to decided to drive instead...but it was so quick I still could have driven. Started at 11am and finished at 1:30pm at a leisurely downhill pace.
I followed the snowmobile trail into the woods from the end of Corbin St. Though not all snowmobile trails are shown on Gaia, I saw that I could follow roads to about 2/3mi East of the summit. So I just kept on snowmobile trails until the one 2/3mi east of the summit ended passing jcts with other roads/trails along the way. The grades were easy-moderate and I was able to walk uphill at a brisk 3.25mph pace. Gaia showed this road ending just below 2000ft but it clearly continued in the right direction so I continued to follow it to 2200ft. The grade between 2000 and 2200ft was moderate-steep unlike everything else up to this point. At 2200ft, the road seemed to be swinging to the right, around the summit, and I saw what could be a herd path in the woods heading up in the direction of the summit so I jumped off the road and headed toward the summit. 10-15min whack from that point to the summit area through the hardwoods. Had to look around the flat summit area a bit to find the high point and jar.
The jar is in the center/southwest side of the highway contour shown on Gaia. Looks like I was the 13th “group†to sign in. It was hung in 2019. Thanks to those that hung it! I even remembered to put the cap back on this time ;) I then headed down. This was such a short whack that I didn’t bother to take out my compass and map and just used Gaia instead. Consequently, I got a bit off course 😜 I was a wee bit south of my line on the ascent and came out about 0.1mi below a couple hundred feet below (East) of where I hopped into the woods on my ascent.
I didn’t get rained on but now it’s snowing in Berlin 🙃 Shit. Not sticking to ground though. |
