 | Water Crossing Notes: |
We turned around because the water crossings were raging. The brook at the beginning, which is usually a calm trickle, was swollen and at least 3ft higher than normal. Blue Trail, has a water crossing where there is usually a rock hoppable puddle. Benj Weeks first two actual crossings are about 2ft higher than normal. |

I thought the rainbow that seemed to come straight out of Winnipesaukee was a good sign for our hike today. And, well, this side of Rowe/Gunstock doesn’t have any notable water crossing so it’s going to be all good. Despite the sun clearing summit ing was not going to happen. Decided to head up Blue since it tends to be a much less wet trail and generally doesn’t have anything that qualifies as a legit water crossing. As noted above, the water was flowing to the point that we turned around. Attempted to go via Benj Weeks turned around at the second water crossing. I’ve hiked these trails many times and never once noted a significant crossing. I guess Mother Nature is putting us in our place. |
