Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The Lincoln Woods Lot is a USFS $5/day fee area. The bathrooms are closed and there are porta-potties instead set up on the right side of the parking lot just beyond the iron ranger. Maybe a dozen or two cars parked there when I arrived shortly past 9am and left at 6:30pm so it was mostly empty and still had room for several dozen more cars before overflowing.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I thought they might be a bit tricky as water was at least still slightly elevated from all the rain we’d got the last few days but they weren’t bad at all. If I were in trail runners I may have gotten my feet wet on a slightly submerged rock or two but easy to keep your feet dry in waterproof boots.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: None of the trails are consistently blazed. West Bond Spur because it’s in the Pemi wilderness and Lincoln Woods Trail presumably because it’s an old road and doesn’t need blaze 😜 Bondcliff Trail is also within the Pemi wilderness but does have the occasional old light blue blaze on it. This trail could be a little difficult for inexperienced hikers to follow at a few points, particularly with all the leaves on the ground. I’m sure that drainages could be raked out but I didn’t notice anything major. One blowdown in the hardwood section of Bondcliff Trail (where there’s some PUDS) but the trail just skirts around it; I bet it’s been there awhile and won’t get moved though it isn’t large.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A long hike for some dogs with only one major scramble on the “Hillary Step” shortly before the summit of Bondcliff.

Comments
Comments: A year ago today I announced my goal to the online community of finishing what remained of my grid (~70%) in a single year. Today I can proudly say that I’ve been... almost successful! 🙃 I gridded out the month of October on the Bonds this Thursday and gridded out the Bonds. Other than a Presi traverse in December and a Washington-Madison traverse in February, I am done with my grid. On to the 500 highest!

Thursday was an absolutely gorgeous to day to finish and I saw all of 7 people on trail. Two tourists on the bridge at the start, 2 doing a ZBonds, 2 heading up Bondcliff Trail and going to stay at Guyot, and 1 heading up Bondcliff later to also stay at Guyot. Started off cold but quite warm in the sun above tree line and the temps felt much warmer than they were supposed to be.

Glad to have some sunshine which served to dry out the trail a bit and more on Friday. Still lots of mud in places, sometimes obscured by the leaves, and puddles. There was no need for microspikes though I brought them. No I’ve seen although I was a bit suspicious of some rocks that may have had some black ice forming on them.

Completed the hike in about 9 hours :)
