My first time on this trail. It is in good shape and is a steady climb along Howker Ridge. The Howks are really nice with great views.
Hazy sky in the distance, had a foggy undercast along the Androscogin River valley. Mt. Madison had great views into Great Gulf (pun intended) and to the other peaks Adams, Clay, Washington, Wildcat and the Carter Range. The Mahoosuc Range and the Kilkenney Area too hazy. Nice light breeze above treeline, warm and humid below treeline. Saw 36 hikers today. A great day for this trail and peak. |
