| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The lot was practically empty. We were the fourth car at 10 AM. There was one other car when we got back a little after 5. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |

| Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All easy rock hops. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Great Gulf is in surprisingly good shape up to near Sphinx (which is as far as we went). All blowdowns were easily stepped over or ducked under. There is a weird spot just a bit before the intersection with Sphinx where the trail essentially rock hops through a stream around a corner, but I don’t think there’s an easy way around this section. Osgood Cutoff and Osgood (which we took on the way back for variety) were fine. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Great trails for dogs (at least until you hit the headwall on Great Gulf…). |
|
| Bugs: |
I think … they’re gone. |
|
| Lost and Found: |
Grey sweatshirt with mountains (hand?) painted on it was hanging from a tree at the intersection of Great Gulf and Osgood. |

Great Gulf (to near Sphinx), Osgood Cutoff, Osgood
Decided to putz around the Gulf today. It was pretty windy so we didn’t feel like being very exposed. Basically we just hiked up Great Gulf until we got tired (which was at the first real rock slab on the trail, just before the intersection with Sphinx). Took Osgood Cutoff and Osgood on the way down for a little variety. Got over 11 miles in today and only ran across one other group. Great day to be out. Saw some icicles near where we turned around. |
