| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Overall, quite passable. But the section between the Kanc and the Wilderness boundary needs brushing and blazing. There is some recent blazing that is extremely helpful in marking turns, especially above the Wilderness boundary, when the trail crosses the streambed and ascends the ridge directly. More blazes would be helpful when leaves obscure the footway, as they did Wednesday. Particularly when going downhill in the dark, occasional blazing would be helpful, more than every quarter mile. Brushing was adequate, except for the section near the highway, uphill from the section on the old RR grade. Here were many spots with barely two foot clearance, half of the four foot standard outside wilderness areas. I'm a newly trained WMNF trail adopter, so I say this with kindness;-) |

A perfect day for a hike. PBB and N. Tri lack spectacular views, but Carrigan and the snow-capped Presidentials were visible in many though-the-trees locations. Keep looking up! |
