| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Several duck-under/climb-over trees down on the Cedar Brook trail, near the height of land, north side. Otherwise, mud & boggy trail on Cedar Brook trail, at the top of the ridge. Other major concentration of mud is Cedar Brook trail, south end, between Hancock Notch trail and junct with Hancock Loop trail. That .7 mile stretch is a mud wallow. Other sections of Cedar Brook trail were in pretty good shape and well brushed. The 1.8 miles of Hancock Notch trail hiked is in good condition. The trails were easy to follow.

Cedar Brook trail & Hancock Notch trail.
Junction with Pemi East Side trail.
The Cedar Brook trail begins on the North Fork of the Hancock river at its south end, crosses the connecting ridge between Mts Hitchcock and Hancock (at about 3,100 ft) and descends along Cedar Brook to the Pemi. There was no snow or ice at the top of the ridge. Or leaves on trees. But plenty of water and mud. Did the trail out and back and met no other hikers after passing the Hancock Loop trail. |
