Comments
Comments: Excellent first time hike of this section of Rocky Branch Trail from Shelter #1. This trail is quite "suttle" at times and definitely lost it a couple of times but can be followed and is a truly beautiful trail through the woods meandering along and across the river several times. There are also are many other smaller stream flows that are equally as interesting. The foilage is really ramping up as well. No speed records were set today as i literally was taking pictures every ten minutes.. I encountered a good sized bull moose as well. He was not bothered in least by me i snapped a few photos and promptly stepped off trail and let him pass by. He definitely was calling for his mate as he passed by. It was nice crossing paths and chatting with the Teal Goat today on trail otherwise i met no one else until the crystal cascades viewpoint. Once on the Davis Path with Für Elise in my ear i envisioned drivng an Audi navigating on the Autobahn when i suddenly remembered as i sunk in the mud with a missstep im the proud owner of a toyota and was navigating through some quite deep mudholes(calf deep)in spots-Couldnt have been a better day for it! Approaching Boott Spur i saw some stunning undercast as well as some spectacular fall foilage in the notches.Winds today were less than a whisper and temps were mild making for a great hike. The Crystal Cascades were flowing nicely as well.
