Trail starts out flat, then to gradual climb. about 3/4 of a mile in, it gets a bit more moderate. various degrees of moderate all the way up, with a mostly dirt/loos stone path with occasional very small ledge climbs. Water was flowing on the trail about halfway up to treeline for about 1/3 of a mile, but not too bad. All rock surfaces were wet and potentially slippery.
Above treeline winds were gusting up to around 50, temp was 35 at 3pm, peaks in and out of the clouds. No one to be seen anywhere above treeline, including on top of Eisenwower. Saw about 20 hikers all day below treeline.
Great effort to reward ratio, an easy to moderate hike with great views along the ridgeline. |
