small parking lot past the Sodom Rd. room for maybe 8 cars. Parking on Route 171 near Sodom Road is on private land; landowner allows use of the lot, but asks that people be respectful in the process. |

few crossings easily rock hopped. |

upper level of Shaw trail is getting encroached upon by trees and stuff. nice to see someone went through and marked up the trail. nice to see the cairn at the top of the trail too, last time I hiked Shaw, I missed the Shaw trail (I was going down) and wondered for an hour and eventually bushwacked from the other side of the stream. |

bear in the area. it bolted up the hill about a klick out from the parking lot when I was coming down at 430. |
