An afternoon wander-loop with the idea to explore Pond of Safety - but with possibility of incoming T-storms and knowing that I would not have enough time to really explore the area before hitting my turn-around time I came up with this route on the fly instead. It did rain for a bit but I was happy that T-storms never materialized. Good views from Lookout Ledge and Castleview Rock however upper elevations of the northern Presi's were covered in clouds at both viewpoints. I only saw two other hikers (coming from Pond of Safety) the entire time although I did see a black bear scramble away off of Carlton Notch Trail. I didn't bother with North Randolph either...meh. |
