Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: This is why I am posting. There are some blowdowns on the Al Merrill Loop that appear to be quite new (the small plants that are bent over beneath a few of them are still alive but won’t likely be for long). From the junction with the “Dead End” trail sign to the next switchback is where they are. One is at least a foot in diameter and the rest are smaller but too large for me to move myself. I took photos of everything; please email me if you want them using my name shown above at yahoo. What we hiked today was in pristine condition; thank you for building and maintaining such terrific trails!!
Dog-Related Notes

Comments
Comments: This is a terrific loop for an active but senior dog. We went up Asquam Ridge Trail to the junction with the upper part of the Al Merrill Loop and came down that. The footing was terrific the entire way, and the forest was peaceful. We liked the Traps Turnpike reroute quite a lot. At the 10th Mtn Division Outlook I found myself too short to see Mt Moosilauke or South Peak, LOL. We took the Dead End trail out to Sayre Peak and found the spur trail to be overgrown, but it was fine because everything is dry. We found a very modern appearing watch tower with a short chainlink fence and a wooden ladder as access over the fence … and not a single keep out sign … were we supposed to keep out?!
We saw no people except in the parking area. My dog loves these kinds of trails, so it was a terrific morning!!
