Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, August 13, 2011
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Due to late start I was able to grab a spot in Appalachia parking lot because of turnover, but cars were lined up along Rt2 as usual.

Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All Passible
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: All trails in good condition. Recent blowdown partially blocking Short Line north of Air Line split.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a couple dogs on Adams summit...ouch the sharp rocks must have hurt.
Bugs
Bugs: Black Flies still on summit when wind is not blowing. Not many bugs anywhere else, except on Lowe's Path between Gray Knob and Randolph Path they were relentless.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Red/Gray Viking Parka hanging on tree on Air Line

Comments
Comments: Great Day above the treeline. Trails are nice and dry, good traction everywhere, except on Lowe's Path and Randolph Path from Gray Knob down. It appears this section of trail must always be this way due to heavy moss/slime on rocks.
