Packed as usual but, once again, we got lucky and got a close spot as someone pulled out. |

Here’s a hint for getting across the river at the top of Thoreau Falls: if you have AllTrails, religiously stick to the trail on the map. When you can go no further, look up and you’ll see the trail on the other side of the water. To the left about 10-15 feet, the river conveniently flows partially under a large, flattish rock. You can step up and over here without getting your feet wet. |

This is a great trail for dogs that are new to hiking. Since we were going to grab some video footage of the falls and weren’t doing anything too serious, we took our dog with us (she normally doesn’t hike with us though she has done one or two). |

Lots of groups out there today coming and going from the hut. Great day to be out! Had a little bit of misty rain for about twenty minutes through the notch on the way back, but it was so light we never stopped to put on any rain gear. |
