| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We spotted a car at the Beaver Brook trailhead and drove over to Reel Brook Rd. The road is generally good up to the alternate parking, where we started from. One small washout here. Beyond this, the road is good until the entrance to the formal parking which has lots of protruding rocks that I wouldn't attempt in a regular car. High clearance is best. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Reel Brook is in excellent shape! Kinsman Ridge Trail could use some love in places. A couple blowdowns and most wooden structures (water bars, steps, bog bridges) have rotted away or are in the process of doing so. Blazing could also be refreshed. |

North-south traverse of Mt. Wolf and friends.
As noted above, Reel Brook Trail is in great shape and is a super gradual route up to the ridge. Kinsman Ridge Trail was mud city for most of its length. Lots of worn bypasses around these areas, created by hikers not walking straight through the mud. In some places the bog bridges were just beneath the mud surface.
We visited the outlook on Wolf, which is minimal at this point. Also did the short side trip to Wolf's true summit, accessible by a now fairly clear herd path. The register has been moved to a different tree since my last visit.
Did the very short bushwhack to Blue Ridge North, finding only the string and no jar, located inside a small thicket of trees. Also looked around on all the little bumps for the register on Kinsman Notch North but found none.
Rain held off until the final descent to NH 112. Just light showers at that point but it really opened up after we were back at the car. Many AT thru-hikers out today and only two day hikers sighted who were headed to the Kinsmans. |
