 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at intersection of Haystack Road and FR304A, about a half mile before the North Twin trailhead. I parked off to the right side so as to create room for three cars in a line from the road up to the boulder gate. Mostly a moot point since I believe I was the only one there anyway. |

A quick morning "bushwhack" of PATN...I hesitate to call it a bushwhack because, at this point, it's a pretty well-defined herd path all the way up. First key is to catch the right turn off FR304A just beyond the gravel pit on your left; there is a small cairn on the right side of the road to start the path up. Honestly I saw the path diverging right (SW) before I even saw the cairn.
There are a few spaghetti paths when you get up to the ridge, but they mostly lead SE to viewpoints. Careful inspection of the forest floor shows small branches bunched across these sidepaths to guide you on the main "trail." Closer to the summit, the path closes in as you navigate the blowdowns and evergreen scrub. The canister and contents at the summit is in good condition. Have fun! |
