Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at 19 Mile Brook trail head and rode the AMC Shuttle to the Castle trail head. The drivers will let you off at any trail head which in itself makes the $20 fee a bargain.

Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All were crossed without getting my toes wet (trail runners). 
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One blow down on Castle, one on Great Gulf. Both easily traversed. 
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: One pup on top of Jefferson...these trails are hard on pads. 
Bugs
Bugs: not one but it was pretty cool (50's and 60's)

Lost and Found: nada 
 
Comments
Comments: This hike was part of my Terrifying 25 list, Castle and Madison Gulf. Up Castle, down Madison Gulf which was slow going admittedly due to the steepness and portions of the trail that where running water. Good shoes and long legs certainly help on the descent.
