| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The biggest issue with both trails is that they need brushing. Lots of growth encroaching into the corridors. Blowdowns were minimal and minor. Neither MBT nor the section of KRT that I was on are blazed. All bog bridges are in good shape except for one which is loose and tippy. The last stretch of bridges on MBT before the junction with KRT could use one more section to avoid stepping down onto sinkable ground. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
I guess this would be an easy route for dogs. |

| Bugs: |
With all the brushiness, I am amazed I have not yet found a tick. |

Rogers Ledge from the south. This seemed much easier that coming in from South Pond, though both routes are not difficult at all. This was a very gentle walk up to KRT with the only real climbing being from the junction to the ledge, and even that's moderate.
MBT is adventurous if you like pushing through brush, but there's no issue following the trail. Mostly dry conditions with several muddy stretches which are well served with stepping stones. Also nice to have Cold Brook alongside the trail for 2/3 the way up.
Only saw three people all day. Nice to meet Jim on top, and we were able to help a southbound Cohos Trail thru-hiker who had run out of water. We set him up with liquids and electrolytes to make it to the next water source, which was fortunately only 0.7 mi. away.
Finally some better weather for hiking. Still on the humid side, but temps stayed in the upper 60s with a nice breeze. |
