 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked 0.5 mi. from US 3 on Sophie's Lane where the secondary road splits left to the formal parking area. This last bit is best done with high clearance. There is very limited room where I parked without blocking roads. |

IMO, this is one of the most beautiful trails in the state and exemplifies the wild character of the forests in this region. There are no grand vistas, but the forest this trail passes through is magnificent.
Conditions were wet as rain showers had moved in -- I'm 2 for 2 with hiking this one in the rain. However, the rain simply added to the lush woods and the frame of the old fire tower was ghostly in the mist.
If in the Pittsburg area, I highly recommend doing this mostly easy 4.2 mi. round-trip hike. |
