| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Magalloway Rd. was fine as usual. Tower Rd. has been reported as terrible by others, but I found it to be in the best shape I've ever seen it -- far better than previous visits. It's still rough and rocky, but regular cars can get there just fine with slow and sensible driving. Brush has also been cut back which eliminates the former narrow blind curves. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The reconstructed Coot Trail (access road for the fire tower) looks like it was blasted up the mountain unfortunately. Will be very muddy in wet conditions. The huge mass of blowdowns on Bobcat has been cleared -- it looks like Kate Sleeper Trail now. New signs at the trailhead and trail junctions. |

Nice to find the drive in to be a bit easier this time, always wonder what i'm going to get. Went up the steep Coot and down the more gradual Bobcat with side trips to the overlook and the old spring. The side path to the spring might be catching up to the Cabot Spring Spur in terms of overgrownishness. Found the spring easily enough, but the water does not look appealing.
Good views but by this time in the day the overcast had moved in. Several vehicles in the lot when I arrived but didn't see many people. Nice to meet Old Man Alone for a chat as I was driving out and he was heading in. Good luck with your remaining 52WAV peaks! |
