What a spectacular hike on Jefferson!
The Six Husbands Trail is so fun and exhilarating! The boulder caves and boulders were quite impressive and the ladders and scrambling definitely was really neat. One of the trickiest spots was at the top of the fourth ladder (a bit nerve-racking for us but an excellent viewpoint). Fantastic views into Jefferson Ravine and up to the towering peak of Adams. Trail was a bit harder to follow in the alpine zone at and above the talus slope/seasonal snowfield.
We looked for The Sphinx on the Sphinx Trail but didn't find it. Beautiful waterfalls and pools on this trail! It was quite steep and especially slippery where the stream ran in the trail. This was a very tedious and slow descent for us (it reminded us of the Chandler Brook Trail). Watch for the cairns at the crossings, they are very helpful for knowing where to cross. The gorge in the lower half of the trail was really cool.
What a beautiful day. Very glad to have tried out the Six Husbands Trail. |
