Comments
Comments: If you want to get away from the crowds on a gradual wooded hike, this is the trail. We didn't see anyone on the trail; and I wondered over to the intersection with the AT and the Centennial trail) and still didn't see anyone. Views from the ledges were wonderful now that the haze cleared. Couple of slightly muddy trail sections, no big deal. Saw bear scat on the trail numerous times, but no encounters. Excursion over to Mascot Pond was OK, probably better in spring when there is more activity in the area.

A 1.5 mile mostly road walk along dirt roads is require to get to the trail head. Looks like there may be a short cut, but not we stuck to the AMC sign guided route; all marked and easy to follow. Although we didn't see anyone else on the trails, we did encounter a guy in an Outback driving on Hogan Rd from the Centennial Trailhead looking for the way out; he did not want to go back since the road was very rough and loaded with potholes, not really drivable w/o lots of clearance.
