Comments
Comments: We have a Corolla. Long drives on gravel with little reception make me nervous; but the drive to the trail head was not bad. WMG description made the trailhead easy to find. So off to a good beginning. I have read and seen videos of this trail so I was prepared for a climb. It is steep for the most part. Enjoy what short gradual stretches there are. When you get to the pretty clearing with its lovely ferns and scraps from the fire warden's cabin (and there is a tiny stream here as well), there is a short climb and then a lovely ridge walk to the summit. I beat the rain by about 5 or 10 minutes. Sure, it would have been nice to have a day without smoke haze and storms moving in, but it was still good. We did this one because it is so far north from the Great City of Lawrence and we were camping for the night (ironically at the Sugarloafs near Zealand). If you're up north, this is a good one!
