| Dog-Related Notes: |
This is a dog-friendly route, with the exception of the short, steep section below Moriah. But most dogs should be able to handle it with a little help from their bipedal companions. |
|
| Bugs: |
None, surprisingly. The few mosquitoes seemed uninterested in biting, even sans repellent. |

| Comments: |
This is a very easy route to attain Carter Ridge and the numerous open areas of the ridge just to the south of Moriah. Unfortunately, the extreme level of haze obscured the hoped-for views. I do not recall seeing so much haze in The Whites, and suspect there was contribution of smoke from the wildfires out West.
All of the mud I encountered was on the Carter-Moriah Trail. These muddy areas were short, but some were deep, based on how far my trekking poles sent in. But careful stepping will keep your feet clean and dry. |
